Transitions and Capacity - Making the Most of Moments of Change in Third Sector Leadership. Dr John Brothers, Author, Adjunct Professor and Senior Fellow at Support Center for Non Profit Managers, New York. The one thing that all leaders will agree is that this sector is never dull, stagnant or repetitive – in other words it keeps changing! Change is the one constant we can all count on. Yet more often than not we’re not ready for change, never mind turn it into an opportunity! Dr John E Brothers will talk about the use of an organisational lifecycle (similar to the human life cycle) framework to help cope with change. It will help leaders to consider what would be the best destination for their organisation and what needs to be done to make the journey from point A to point B as successful as possible. |

But sometimes merging is not always the best solution. In 2010 the Cedar Foundation and Action Mental Health embarked on a journey which would have seen a possible merger between the two organisations, however the merger did not happen. Delegates will be able to hear from both parties for the first time, on why they chose not to merge and share the learning. |
